Air Mandalay Limited, the first regional joint venture airline in Myanmar, was formed on October 6, 1994. The shareholders are the national carrier Myanmar Airways, Air Mandalay Holdings Pte Ltd of Singapore and Premier Airlines Pte Ltd of Malaysia.

Air Mandalay's logo depicts the mythological Royal Hintha Bird which symbolizes loyalty, respect for traditional values, stability, good luck and prosperity.
The Yellow colour represents the numerous golden pagodas found throughout Myanmar-The Golden Land. Burgundy signifies the colour of the robes worn by Buddhist monks in Myanmar, thus standing for religious values.
